Short answer
Map answers should be route-specific. Learn where the camera compresses the pack, which hazards force a timing change, and where a grapple is a recovery rather than a shortcut. Map names and route claims stay withheld until they are captured from the current build.
Read the track in four passes.
Each map page should answer a player’s next decision. Mark the route, then run it often enough to separate a reliable line from a lucky lead.

How to write a shortcut note.
- Name the entrance.Tell the reader where to decide, not only where the shortcut ends.
- Show the cost.Record the miss condition: a fall, lost momentum, bad camera position, or item exposure.
- Give the recovery.A shortcut is useful when the guide also explains how to stay alive after a late input.
- Repeat on both layouts.Never let a layout-specific line become a global map claim.
