October 12 check: what does Patch 1.5 mean for Switch?
The four newest entries returned by the Steam News API on October 12 still begin with Patch 1.5, dated October 1. This bounded Steam check is not a console rollout feed or a live connectivity test; it does not establish a newer patch or a continuing Switch outage.
The October 1 Patch 1.5 notes do not confirm a Switch rollout or restoration date. They announce a disabled-crossplay warning for private lobbies. That absence does not independently prove today’s service is down; it also does not prove every platform received the same patch. Read the released notes.
Connect your Switch to the internet. Highlight the game on the HOME Menu without starting it, press +, then choose Software Update → Via the Internet. The September 8 restoration report and September 18 interruption describe different updates, not contradictory tests. The latest dated publisher notice takes precedence over the older general support list. We have not independently tested every device pair.
After checking available Switch updates: checks in order
Install any update offered by your console first. Record the installed version even if no update is offered. The September delay notice alone cannot tell you whether today's failure is a rollout issue, a setting or a connection problem.
- Enable crossplay in Settings → Online.Check it on both devices, not only the host.
- Install the latest update on each device.Close and reopen the game after updating. Compare displayed versions if the lobby still fails.
