SpeedRunners 2 movement: grapple, slide and slope jumps

Build a SpeedRunners 2 movement routine around momentum, slides, wall jumps, grapples, boosts and slope-jump practice without inventing frame data.

Short answer

The official FAQ says slope jumping and other advanced techniques are intended to return, while the Steam listing frames the race around momentum, grappling hooks, boosters, shortcuts and traps. This guide gives a repeatable practice order; it does not claim a tested frame window or a universal fastest route. Start with clean bindings, then test one movement link at a time. The movement loop to make automatic

SpeedRunners 2 movement actions and practice focus
ActionWhat it is forFirst drill
SteeringKeep a clean line through ledges and landingsHold each direction while performing a normal jump.
JumpStart wall-jump chains and clear gapsRepeat one jump with the same approach and landing.
SlidePass low spaces and preserve a routeAdd a slide after a safe landing before combining it with a jump.
GrappleAttach to a valid surface and recover speedAttach once, release toward a visible landing and repeat.
BoostSpend a burst of speed at a useful momentUse it on a familiar straight or exit, not during an unknown landing.
ItemCreate an opening or deny a rivalAdd items only after the movement line is repeatable.

The normal grapple is a movement action; the Golden Hook is an opponent-targeting pickup. Keep them separate when testing controls and achievement conditions.

Grapple and slope-jump practice without fake frame data

  1. Confirm the current actions.Use the controls screen and remove any numpad/menu conflict before evaluating a technique.
  2. Choose one visible surface.Practice a single grapple ceiling or wall rather than mixing several surfaces and route variants.
  3. Keep the approach stable.Repeat the same speed and direction, then change only the release timing or landing target.
  4. Add the slope after the baseline works. The developer intends advanced techniques such as slope jumping to return, but a legacy SR1 recipe is not a tested SR2 frame prescription.
  5. Record a successful example.Save the map, layout, starting position and build. A technique that works on one route may not transfer unchanged to another.

Map layout is part of movement skill

The official map material describes familiar and alternate layouts. Confirm the map and A/B variant before copying a shortcut or comparing a video. A correct grapple entrance on one layout can end at a different obstacle on the other. Read the layout guidance.

Use the map reference to note one reliable route, one practice section and one feature to notice earlier. Then test the route with the current pickup and camera pressure.

When an advanced tutorial is the wrong test

If a normal jump or grapple fails outside the tutorial, fix inputs first. The current developer discussion describes a numpad/menu conflict, and the Reverse Grapple thread contains player reports rather than a reproduced universal sequence. Keybind discussion · Reverse Grapple report.

Do not convert old SpeedRunners 1 timing advice into a precise King of Speed instruction. Use legacy material only as a hypothesis, then label the result with the current map, build and controls.

A 20-minute movement session

  1. Minutes 0–5: inputs.Check steering, jump, slide and grapple individually; stop if an action opens a menu or fails to register.
  2. Minutes 5–10: one link.Repeat jump → slide or jump → grapple on one familiar section until the landing is predictable.
  3. Minutes 10–15: one route.Run the same map layout and note the first section where the camera pressure changes your decision.
  4. Minutes 15–20: one race.Add items or opponents, then write down one movement error instead of changing every bind and route at once.

Quick questions

Does SpeedRunners 2 have slope jumping?

The developer FAQ says slope jumping and other advanced techniques are intended to return. This page does not claim a tested release-build frame window.

How do I get better at grappling in SpeedRunners 2?

Confirm your grapple input, choose one visible surface, keep the approach stable and practice the release toward a known landing before adding items or opponents.

Are SpeedRunners 1 movement guides valid in SpeedRunners 2?

They can provide a historical hypothesis, but they are not release-build evidence. Confirm the same map, layout, inputs and timing in SpeedRunners 2 first.

What is the fastest SpeedRunners 2 movement technique?

No single fastest technique is established by the sources used here. Movement value depends on the map layout, landing, camera position and whether the action is repeatable under pressure.

Why does my grapple tutorial keep failing?

Check the current action bindings, especially a possible numpad/menu conflict, then test a normal grapple outside the lesson. A player report or an old SR1 recipe is not a guaranteed fix.
